Coming of Age Narratives

There is an undercurrent theme of ‘Coming of age’ from the author’s personal memoirs and narration through her poems exploring some experimental and frank accounts of youth and popular culture.

With hope that her openness to others can seek some solace and relatability in navigating adulthood too. Standing on your own two feet, leaving home and entering your adult existence in the world is scarier than we first realize, and harrowing tales of struggle mixed with humor and rhyme.

Whilst every sinner has a future, every saint has a past. Annishia shares some of the more wilder and explorative parts of her life, celebrating hedonism in a tongue-in-cheek and storytelling stance. Reflecting on how her experiences have shaped her today.

Much like Annishia’s first collection, ‘Crying Diamonds,’ there are a few hybrid language poems in French and also Spanish. As well as some more personal, heartfelt themes surrounding the topic of love (the best parts–falling in love and love at first sight).
