Back in 1974, Dr. Kocherlakota graduated with his medical degree from Kurnool Medical College in India. After relocating to the United States, he performed his residency in pediatrics at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, he is board-certified in both pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The ABP exists to promote excellence in medical care for children and adolescents. Neonatology is a subspecialty of pediatrics that consists of the medical care of newborn infants, especially the ill, or premature newborn. It is a hospital-based specialty and is practiced in neonatal intensive care units. Neonatologists generally diagnose and treat newborns with conditions such as breathing disorders, infections, and birth defects, as well as coordinating care and medically managing newborns born prematurely, critically ill, or in need of surgery.
