North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has claimed that his biggest enemy is the US. He does not expect the president, whoever it might be, to change Washington’s policy toward Pyongyang.

Mr. Kim also pledged to increase the nuclear arsenal of North Korea. Addressing a rare congress of the ruling worker’s party Kim also wants to expand his ammunition and military potential.

He said that the plans for nuclear submarines are almost to the end now.

The critics are saying that such comments are coming from Kim as Joe Biden is going to take the office soon. They are saying that these remarks are mentioned to put some stress on the incoming government.

Mr. Biden is set to be sworn on 20th January which might not be a happy thing for Mr. Kim.

Kim enjoyed a warm rapport with the outgoing president Mr. Trump. Even though a little concrete progress was made on negotiations of North Korea’s Nuclear Programme.

According to state news agency KCNA’s report, Mr. Kim said that the US is the “biggest obstacle for our revolution and our biggest enemy… no matter who is in power, the true nature of its policy against North Korea will never change.”

His speech has churned out a lot of controversies since it outlined the desire for long-range ballistic missiles that can be launched from the land or the sea. He also mentioned “super-large warheads”.

Despite having strict economic sanctions, North Korea has managed to advance its military arsenal significantly.

Earlier this week, Mr. Kim agreed that his 5-year economic plan for the isolated country has failed almost in every sector.

North Korea closed all the borders last January as a precautionary step to prevent the spread of COVID-19. But they claimed that there are no cases of the coronavirus.
