Sundar Pichai, Alphabet Inc.’s new CEO is going to be awarded $240 million in performance-based stock awards for the next three years. This is the highest amount ever to be promised to any executive officer of the company.
Pichai has also been signed up for $2 million annual salary from the start of the next year, which is double compared to $1 million received by Larry Page while working in the same designation in the last year.
As stated by Amit Batish, the marketing manager of Equilar, Pichai is just behind Tim Cook’s grant of $376 million when the latter had joined as the CEO of Apple.
The co-founders of Google, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin made way for Pichai for the position of the CEO of the parent company after retiring earlier this month.
Having worked at Google for almost 15 years, Pichai is now the face of the search giant, which is going through a tough phase due to criticisms from the US lawmakers and its employees regarding various issues, including privacy and monopoly.
Pichai was hugely appreciated for the success of the Google chrome browser and was considered to be the successor to the then Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer before Satya Nadella took the responsibility in February 2014.
According to the recent statements of the company, Sundar Pichai had earned as much as $1.9 million in 2018, including security and aircraft use cost. The base salary for Pichai for the year of 2018 was $650,000.
According to Equilar, the base salary of the CEO of Median had reached $1.2 million among the largest US-based companies of 2018, in terms of revenue.
