Her areas of interest include injury prevention, traumatic disease, child advocacy, as well as pain and anxiety therapy during emergencies.
Joining the hospital staff in May of 2017, Dr. Mercurio diagnoses and treats infections, injuries, diseases, and other disorders on an as-needed basis in a 24-hour facility with nearly every subspecialist available for expert consultation.
In addition, she teaches resident physicians, students, and community providers such as paramedics, EMTs, and firefighters. She is certified in medical simulation to assist with this teaching to keep children healthy and thriving.

She then went on to perform her residency in pediatrics at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. She also completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Hospital for Children at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.
As a testament to her continued education, the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics (AOBP). The AOBP is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases in infants, children, and adolescents (pediatricians).
Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Mercurio is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP). She is also an active member of the American Osteopathic Association.
