(Spin Digit Editorial):- Hollywood, California Feb 10, 2022 (Issuewire.com) – Hollywood Executive Producer, Writer, and Costume Designer LaRae Wilson recently inked a deal with Dame Dash Studios to release her first feature film, “Social Disturbance.” The psychological thriller follows the story of a young suburban woman running from her past, who encounters an unassuming man, and a twisted obsession begins. The film stars Liana Mendoza (“American Horror Story”), Vincent Ward (“The Walking Dead”), and Slink Johnson (“Black Jesus”).
The film, Executive Produced by Wilson, Mendoza, and Amber Cook was released on November 20, 2021, and is distributed by Dame Dash Studios and Homestead Entertainment. Social Disturbance is currently on Fox Corporation’s FREE streaming platform Tubi TV, and NOW is also available on Fox Soul.
“I am extremely excited to have an opportunity to work in conjunction with Dame Dash,” explains Wilson. “Through his company, he is giving and allowing women of color to have a voice in the entertainment industry, not only in front of the camera but behind the scenes as well.”
Wilson has been making waves throughout the entertainment industry as a costume designer on TV and film projects alike. A few of her TV credits include but aren’t limited to, “Phantom of the Opera,” “Hell Hath No Fury” Emmy Nominated series “Studio City” and “The Runner,” where Wilson got her first nomination for best costume Designer. During the last few years, Wilson has branched out to producing and writing with her latest project, “Social Disturbance.”
Teaming up again with Cook, their next project, “Fire” is an action-packed period piece set in the racist 1930s and will also star some familiar faces from Social Disturbance. Wilson says, “I’m blessed to be able to collaborate with such talented people and do all of the things I love to do – produce, write and design.”
“We’ve put together an amazing production team to include everything needed to make amazing films – from the actors and actresses, music, set and costume design and everything in-between, our artists are able to put their talents on display for the world to see and enjoy,” says Cook.
In addition to streaming on two popular Fox platforms, the producers and cast of Social Disturbance along with Dame Dash Studios will be coming to major cities across the country starting first in Wilson’s hometown of Indianapolis for a special event screening at the Madame CJ Walker Legacy Center, honoring National Women’s Month in March.
“This tour will be a great opportunity for Social Disturbance fans across the country to not only take part in a red carpet screening, but also meet and interact with our cast, crew, and production team, and ask questions about every facet of the filmmaking process,” says Cook, “and to kick off our tour in such a historical place for Black Women as the Madame CJ Walker Legacy Center is an honor.”
