He then went on to complete his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, New York. During his time in Brooklyn, he has served as a team physician of Sheepshead Bay High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Football Teams.

Dr. Gendelman is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. 

Dr. Gendelman holds professional memberships with several organizations, including the Los Angeles County Medical Association, the California Medical Association, and the California Orthopaedic Association. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. Founded in 1933, the Academy is the preeminent provider of musculoskeletal education to orthopedic surgeons and others in the world. 

Dr. Gendelman has completed extensive research over the course of his career (much of which was conducted at such prestigious organizations as the Dorr Arthritis Institute), thereby making it easy for him to maintain cutting-edge knowledge of medicine and technology. He is also a published author, contributing his expertise to the field of Orthopaedic Surgery.
