Rabbi Pinto Explains the Crèche
Rabbi Pinto told the media that he would have never been able to open the crèche if not for Morocco. It’s one place where Muslims and Jews coexist and practice their own religious rituals with complete freedom because HM King Mohammed VI provides protection.
The Rabbi’s crèche is located in Casablanca on Boulevard Driss Slaoui and welcomes children from the ages of 2-years to 7-years-old who follow the Jewish faith. Children are taught the basics of religion, including the reading of the Talmud.
The classes are offered free of charge, so there are no tuition fees due. Rabbi Pinto covers costs through his Shuva-Maroc association.
The association created a press release that explained the school’s objective is to assist Moroccan Jews with educating their children in a religious setting where they can learn Jewish principles. They continued on to explain the crèche is working to enable Orthodox members to practice their individual rituals in excellent conditions according to the Jewish religion.
It’s also worth noting that Morocco has finally decided to include the culture and history of the country’s Jews in school textbooks.
