The wind of tension among the Canadian pop stars Justin Bieber ad The Weekend suggests that they don’t truly feel welcomed with the list of Grammy nominations.
Grammy nominations are out; people can finally know who are competing against each other for the thrown of music idols from Tuesday. Everyone’s favorite Justin Bieber has captured several places in the nominations. His name is announced in four categories: best pop vocal album, best pop solo performance, best pop duo/group performance, and best country duo/group performance.
But he expressed his dissatisfaction via an Instagram post. He mentioned in the post that he could agree with the wrong classification of his music. He suggested that his new releases and the latest album should come up in the R&B category instead of the pop genre. Apparently, his latest album Changes is meant to be included in the R&B section.
with an aggressive attack towards the council of Grammy, he said, “I am very meticulous and intentional about my music,” on Instagram.
“With that being said I set out to make an R&B album. Changes was and is an R&B album.”
He slammed saying, “It is not being acknowledged as an R&B album which is very strange to me… For this not to be put into that category feels weird considering from the chords to the melodies to the vocal style all the way down to the hip hop drums that were chosen it is undeniably, unmistakably an R&B album!”
Bieber did not forget to mention how grateful he was for winning four nominees at Grammy. He insisted on the fact that he was lucky to be selected for Grammys and showed his reverence for securing several spots in different categories.
Moving on to the next leading story, The Weekend is utterly displeased with the nominees and he produced cut and dried remark on Twitter, condemning the Grammys for receiving not a single nomination for his blockbuster album After Hours.
He bitterly posted “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans, and the industry transparency…”
The 30-year-old pop singer is close to making a headline at the 2021 Super Bowl. According to TMZ, it was the reason for his supposed rebuff.
The TMZ report is saying something that might make some sense. According to the source, The Weekend had to make a choice by “Grammy brass”. He could either perform at the biggest music award show or headlined the Super Bowl halftime show, but bagging both balls was not an adequate option.
Harvey Mason Jr., Recording Academy chair and interim president/CEO rejected all the possible rumors. He directly announced that his nominations were not even slightly affected by the fact that he would perform at the ceremony.
He said to the press, “We understand that The Weeknd is disappointed at not being nominated. I was surprised and can empathize with what he’s feeling. His music this year was excellent, and his contributions to the music community and broader world are worthy of everyone’s admiration.”
