This was followed by a fellowship at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine in 1998.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), she is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the American Society of Microbiology, and the American Medical Association.

Infectious disease is a medical specialty dealing with the prevention, the diagnosis, and treatment of infections. An infectious disease specialist’s practice also consists of managing nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections.
