Last Sunday things turned out to be extremely interesting on UFC Fight Night Saskatoon featuring two equally exciting fights. The first one was between Marvin Vettori and Karl Roberson and the second one was featured Cynthia Calvillo and Jessica Eye.
The match between Vettori and Roberson turned out to be an extremely short one. Vettori presented his superiority against Roberson in the middleweight bout forcing the later to submit after just 4 minutes and 17 seconds in the fight. After all the trash-talking and exchange of insults between the fighters, people expected more intense combat from these two.
The match started with Vettori looking for an opening to punch and finally obtaining the chance to attack first. Roberson was quick to respond and take him down. But soon things took a u-turn and the Italian fighter broke free and overpowered Roberson.
He soon pounced on his opponent with a steady attack making him lose his pace. And finally, he trapped Roberson in a rear-naked choke finishing the match.
This was Vettori’s third consecutive win after his loss to Israel Adesanya in April 2018. This could’ve been Roberson’s third win in a row if he didn’t lose.
Cynthia Calvillo faced Jessica Eye in the other co-main event. With the judges’ scores in her favor, Calvillo defeated Eye after five exciting rounds.
Eye didn’t even stand a chance before Calvillo from the beginning. She made sure to keep Jessica on the back foot with her confident and repeated strikes. It was quite obvious from the start that who would come out as the winner.
Jessica was ranked No 1 in the flyweight category while Cynthia showcased some real good performance in this division. With this win, she has now won a total of four matches in a row, and at that time, she acquired three victories and one draw.
This was Eye’s second loss in the previous three fights. Before experiencing this defeat, she beat Viviane Araujo and lost against Valentina Shevchenko in a title fight.
On 20th June, there is the highly anticipated fight between Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov. Other than that, there are other matches featuring Josh Emmett and Shane Burgos and also Lyman Good against Belal Muhammad. Stay tuned for more breathtaking UFC fights coming on next Sunday.
